Sep 14, 2020

BMC Switzerland will reinforce their presence in the World Tour peloton by adding AG2R Citroën Team to their list of sponsored cycling teams as of January 2021.

“We are delighted to announce that the riders of the AG2R Citroën Team will be riding our bikes from 2021 on” said David Zurcher, CEO of BMC Switzerland. “Racing is a deep-rooted component of BMC’s DNA and we were keen to strengthen our presence at the highest level of road cycling. A common vision of the sport and an ambitious sportive project quickly led us to envision a shared future with Vincent Lavenu’s team.”

The long-established French team is opening a new chapter with car manufacturer Citroën joining AG2R as major sponsor and with a new sportive strategy focusing on the Spring Classics. “We strongly believe that with the Teammachine SLR01 and the Timemachine Road, we have the best bikes to help the team reach their high goals” Zurcher added.

Vincent Lavenu, Team General Manager of AG2R Citroën Team, is also excited to have the Swiss Performance Brand on board: “We have been looking for a strong partner for a few years and I am very proud to have our programme supported by such a great and innovative bike brand. I am convinced that it will perfectly back our team in its quest for success at the highest level.”

Major transfer of the AG2R Citroën Team, Olympic Champion Greg Van Avermaet is also looking forward to riding BMC bikes again: “I’ve won Paris-Roubaix, the Rio Olympics and all my major victories on the BMC Teammachine SLR01 and I have such fond memories of my time on BMC bikes. The AG2R Citroën Team project was very attractive to me for various reasons and the chance to ride BMC again eventually made my decision an easy one to take.”

The AG2R Citroën Team riders will ride the new Teammachine SLR01, the Timemachine Road and the Timemachine for the next three seasons (2021 to 2023). After Phonak (2002-2006), BMC Racing Team (2007-2018) and Qhubeka-NTT (2019-2021), AG2R Citroën Team will be the fourth road team to be sponsored by BMC Switzerland.
