A Sunday in Hell
Apr 15, 2019
No, the BMC MTB Racing Team riders did not race Paris-Roubaix yesterday but their Sunday at the Proffix Swiss Bike Cup was also a hell of a race.
Rain, mud, 3 degrees; these were the conditions in Buchs for the second round of the Swiss Bike Cup series. Not the favorite conditions of the team riders who quickly suffered from the cold. Titouan Carod managed to hang on to the front group for the first half of the race before tumbling like some other top contenders.
Reto Indergand was the most consistent rider. Riding in the chase group during the entire race, he crossed the finish line in 5th place repeating his result from last weekend. “It is another step in the right direction” he said before joining the fastest riders of the day on the podium. Ex-team mate and cyclo-cross lover Lars Forster mastered the conditions and won the race in front of Mathias Flückiger and Florian Vogel.
After three consecutive weekends of racing, the BMC MTB Racing Team riders will enjoy a race-free Sunday before the very busy month of May.
