Tour de Bretagne: Lienhard fifth on GC after stage 630. April 2016, Fouesnant (FRA) — Development Team
It looked set to be a day for the breakaway on Tour de Bretagne Stage 6 as a group of eights were able to hold an advantage of 8 minutes after 70 kilometers of racing.
Despite taking most of the 156.4km stage to get the race under control, the breakaway were eventually caught by the peloton and the stage was won by Thomas Rostollan (EC Armée de Terre).
After pushing hard in the final section of the race, the BMC Development Team were able to catch a group of nine GC contenders and help Fabian Lienhard to fifth place on the General Classification, 13 seconds behind race leader Adrien Costa (USA Cycling U23 Men).
Reaction from inside the race car
Klaas Lodewyck, Sport Director: “It was tricky day. The team worked really hard inside the final kilometer to bridge the gap to a group of nine guys who were in contention for GC. We are fifth on the GC with one day to go and I tomorrow will work hard to see if we can do something extra.”
