Rohan Dennis vs The Hour23. January 2015 — Road Team
BMC Switzerland and the BMC Racing Team are delighted to support the UCI Hour Record Attempt of their young talent Rohan Dennis. The event will take place on Sunday 8 February at the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen.
Dennis Rohan joined the BMC Racing Team in August 2014 and was part of the squad that conquered gold at the UCI Team Time Trial World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain last September. The Australian rider, 25, has an impressive palmares already including a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the Team Pursuit event and other silver medals won at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Time Trial and the 2012 U23 UCI Time Trial World Championships. He also rode to a fifth place at the 2014 UCI Time Trial World Championships and a second place to the recent Time Trial Australian Championships.
Shining on both the track and the road, Dennis believes he can beat the current Hour Record established by Austrian rider Mathias Brändle last October (51.852km): "When I look at my experience on the track and the numbers I have been doing on the track and road, it’s within reach”. Ambitious, he will aim for a total distance of 53km in the attempt. "There’s a number in my head. 52.5km I’d be happy with that but I’m trying to push towards 53km."
The recent changes to the Hour Record rules by the International Cycling Union (UCI) have sparked attempts. Rohan Dennis will be the fourth rider giving it a try.
The attempt will take place at the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen (SO), a few footsteps away from the BMC Switzerland headquarters and the Impec Advanced R&D Lab. The event is public so people are invited to come and witness the world Hour Record being broken by BMC Racing Team’s Rohan Dennis.
