Lars Forster, winner of two World Cups in the U23 category this year, will be part of the BMC MTB Racing Team in 2016 and 2017, the team announced today.
Seven-time Swiss National Champion (five time cyclo-cross, one time MTB and one time Road) and Junior European Cyclo-cross champion, the 22-year old rider from the region of St. Gallen will be added to the roster of the BMC MTB Racing Team as of January 1st, 2016.
Lars Forster showed great potential this year by winning two rounds of the U23 World Cup (Nove Mesto na Morave and Lenzerheide). He also finished fourth in the overall classification of the U23World Cup despite dislocating a shoulder in the middle of the summer. His performances in the last seasons in both the Mountain Bike and Cyclo-cross scenes, caught the eye of BMC Racing Sport Director Alex Moos. “I’ve been following him and how he has been developing for a few years already. I like his racing style and his character; he is not afraid, and never gives up” Moos explained before adding “I believe he shows huge potential and I’m confident that he will be in the world’s top 15 cross country riders within two years.”
In 2016, Lars Forster will focus on Swiss Cup events, where he has already achieved a few podiums this season, and on the World Cup series where he will race in the Elite category for the first time. “The BMC MTB Racing Team is the best team I could hope for,” Lars Forster said. “I have always been looking up to Ralph Näf and Lukas Flückiger so being part of their team is really exciting for me. I am also very honored and looking forward to be racing alongside Julien Absalon. He is the one of the greatest MTB rider ever and I really want to learn from him.”
Lars Forster’s first official race with the BMC MTB Racing Team will be the Cyclo-cross Swiss Championships on the 10th of January 2016.
