François Bailly-Maître 5th at EWS#6 in Whistler10. August 2015, Whistler, Canada — Enduro Team
François Bailly-Maître nailed a great 5th place result at the most prestigious round of the Enduro World Series; Crankworks, in Whistler Canada.
The sixth round of the Enduro World Series comprised of five stages, all run on a single day of racing, for a total of 56km and 4’270m of total descent. Still wet from the rain of the previous day, and full of roots, the stages required excellent riding skills and lots of commitment.
François did not start the day well, and finished in 17th on the first short and rooty stage. The second stage was nothing other than the world-famous “Top of the World” trail. This trail is made of a very rocky first part followed by a long section in the woods. François let his physical abilities do the talking, to take 5th place. After a superb 18th place in the third stage, the French pilot took his best stage result in stage four, finishing only 7 seconds behind fellow rider Fabien Barel. His 8th place in the last stage of the day put him in 5th overall, 1min 8 secs behind Richie Rude – who won in Samoëns three weeks ago - and only 28 secs away from second place.
“I am stoked with my result. The day didn’t start very well but I managed to pull myself together for the rest of the day. I am super happy! I had an awesome week in Whistler riding the best possible trails on my Trailfox. I can’t wait to come back next year!”
The next round of the EWS will take place in Zona Zero, Spain on the last weekend of September. In the meantime, François Bailly-Maître and his BMC Factory Trailcrew teammates will be racing Trans-Savoie and Biivouac in France.
