BMC Racing Team returns to the start line of Bretagne Classic – Ouest France this Sunday, 26 August with a well-rounded team ready to cover multiple race scenarios.

Sports Director Fabio Baldato said all seven of the riders will have the chance to go for a result at the UCI WorldTour one-day race.

“All of our riders can make the most of an opportunity at a race like Bretagne Classic – Ouest France. We have two strong cards to play in Alberto Bettiol and Jempy Drucker. The race often comes down to a bunch sprint from a group of 50 or 60 riders and if this is the case, we will ride for Jempy. Alberto has showed his strength at the race in the past and he can definitely go in a good breakaway again, as is often the case in Bretagne. The race can go one of two ways which is why it is important to have options,” Baldato explained.

“The route this year is a little bit different to last year’s race but the final is the same, the circuit in the last 30km is the same, so I don’t think this will necessarily make a big difference to the result. As always, we want to race well and do a good result, especially at a race like Bretagne Classic – Ouest France as it is a good opportunity for the riders to have some freedom.”

Bettiol is coming in with good form from Tour de Pologne and the Arctic Race of Norway.

"I'm coming into this race with a lot of ambition after a big block of racing in Poland and Norway. I have raced at Bretagne Classic – Ouest France three times already and the last two years were both really special for me because in 2016 I finished second and then, last year, I was out in front right up until the last kilometer. So, I have been really close in the past but never managed to get the top result,” Bettiol said.

“This year, I will take the race as it comes and see how I feel kilometer by kilometer. Despite having some gravel roads, this year's race looks a little easier on paper than previous years so, I will also have to think about the team as we have Jempy Drucker racing here and he is our leader if the bunch arrives at the finish all together."
