2017 Arctic Race of Norway winner Dylan Teuns may not be lining up at the start line this year but BMC Racing Team is looking to defend Teuns’ title with a strong and well-balanced six-rider roster when racing gets underway on Thursday, 16 August.

Sports Director Fabio Baldato said the team will back Damiano Caruso for the General Classification

“On paper and looking at recent results, I think Damiano Caruso is good shape to go for the General Classification at the Arctic Race of Norway. That being said, we have six good riders lining up and we will give the riders some freedom to see how the race plays out. Alberto Bettiol is coming in from the Tour de Pologne with good form and Nicolas Roche is really motivated. Michael Schär and Danilo Wyss are always solid and Alexander Evans is coming from the Tour of Utah so he will probably be a bit fatigued,” Baldato said.

“There are a lot of short and steep climbs, climbs of 500 meters with an eight percentage gradient for example, so they are not really hard but they suit explosive riders. We will already have a good indication of form on the first day. In general, the Arctic Race of Norway is a really nice race and one that we always want to do well at.”

Caruso is looking forward to testing his form after the Tour de France.

“I have recovered well after the Tour de France and am looking forward to test my shape at the Arctic Race of Norway. Looking at the stage profiles, the race is not really hard but the climbs are short and punchy so I will see how I go. Norway is a great country to race in and the fans are amazing so I think we will have four nice days there”,” Caruso said.
