BMC Development Team Heads to Olympia’s Tour with Ambitious Lineup3. September 2017, Santa Rosa, California (USA) — Development Team
BMC Development Team will return to the start line next week with an ambitious lineup set to race at Olympia’s Tour (5 - 10 September).
Sports Director Klaas Lodewyck said that BMC Development Team will be looking for opportunities over the course of the six-day race.
“We are going in with a strong team, and overall I think we have multiple cards to play. We won’t be putting pressure on any one rider, and everyone will have the chance to take opportunities as they arise. I think riders like Jasper Philipsen and Pascal Eenkhoorn will be able to perform well over this type of parcours and they are in top shape. Plus we also have Pavel Sivakov, who finished second here last year. This is the final stage race of the season, so we are motivated and ambitious to produce strong results,” Lodewyck said.
After finishing second overall last year, Sivakov is looking forward to returning to Olympia’s Tour.
“We're going into the race without any pressure, but with a very strong team to target both stage wins and also the General Classification. I have great memories of this race after finishing second overall last year. I was in yellow for a few days, and the team did a fantastic job, but unfortunately, I lost the jersey on bonus seconds and couldn't take it back. This year, I'm not going into the race with any specific ambitions. I’ve had a few days off the bike, and I’m starting to feel my long and hard season, so I'll go into the race to help the team and enjoy, as much as I can, my final race in BMC Development Team colors. But, of course, I'll give my best and if I have the opportunity to fight for a win I will take it,” Sivakov explained.
