Back to Back Racing in the Ardennes for BMC Development Team4. May 2016, Santa Rosa, Cali. (USA) — Development Team
The BMC Development Team is set to line up on the start line as two races in the Ardennes region this week. A squad of six riders will race tomorrow at Dwars Door de Vlaamse Ardennen (5 May) before travelling to Herve for the 181.9km Flèche Ardennaise (8 May).
Sport Director, Jens Blatter said that despite difficult courses, the BMC Development Team is ready to challenge at both races.
“Dwars Door is a very difficult race with a lot of steep climbs and cobble sections and it will be important for us to race on the front. We have a good team with multiple options to make a difference at fight for the win,” said Blatter.
“The BMC Development Team has a strong history of success at Flèche Ardennaise, with victories from Silvan Dillier (2013), Stefan Küng (2014) and Loïc Vliegen (2015). This year we are back with another strong team who are capable of challenging for the win again.”
Kilian Frankinny thinks that the team is looking strong ahead of both races and that they will be able to challenge for results.
“I’m feeling really good after my recent performances at Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Eschborn-Frankfurt. I definitely feel ready for both races and will do my best to ride for the team and achieve good results.”
“Both races will have different challenges. For instance Dwaars Door has some hard cobbled sections like the Paterberg and Molenberg, while Flèche Ardennaise has plenty of tricky climbs. Here we will also have to try and defend Loic Vliegen’s victory from last year. I think we are ready for it though, the team is strong.” said Frankinny.
