Specialties and Strengths: One-day races, stage races
Floris Gerts took his first pro-cycling victory early into the 2016 season after making the step up from BMC Development Team to the pro-peloton with BMC Racing Team.
It was perhaps racing on home soil at the Volta Limburg Classic that gave Gerts the extra energy and strength to slip off the front of the breakaway and ride to victory, but whatever the circumstance this was definitely a sign of the Dutch rider’s enormous potential over one-day races.
As a neo-pro, Gerts was also able to show that he could play an invaluable support role at stage races such as the Santos Tour Down Under, while also producing solid results of his own with a 6th place finish on the opening stage of the Aviva Tour of Britain.
