Voluntary product recall for safety reviews

BMC TIMEMACHINE 01 (Model year 2017/2018)

Grenchen, 7th June 2018

BMC issues safety review recall for TIMEMACHINE 01 model year 2017 and 2018

We have identified a technical issue with the front wheel and frame of the TIMEMACHINE 01 models, which means that these bikes now need to be reviewed by an authorized dealer. When using certain tire widths, the distance between the front tire and the down tube may fail to meet the required safety tolerance. In the event of contact between the tire and frame, this could result in a potential crash. To date, there have been very few reported incidents. TIMEMACHINE 02 models are not affected by this recall.

Out of concern for riders’ safety and in keeping with BMC’s high standards, BMC is issuing a recall of all 2017 and 2018 model year TIMEMACHINE 01 bikes for a safety review of the front wheel and tire. Owners of the recalled bikes are urged to immediately cease riding their bikes and take them directly to an authorized dealer. Here you can locate your nearest BMC dealer and obtain more information on the recall.

The authorized BMC dealer will review the bike and register it with BMC as having undergone review. Depending on their conclusions, the bike may be available for immediate use. However, if this is not the case, the dealer will offer to carry out free repair work so that the bike can be ridden safely.

BMC Switzerland AG would like to apologise deeply for this inconvenience and is grateful for your support.
