Acceleration redefined

The requirements for the Teammachine were defined by the demands of WorldTour racing. World champions and GC contenders like Philippe Gilbert, Cadel Evans and Tejay van Garderen requested a bike that balanced lightness for grueling, above category climbs, and rapid-fire acceleration for laying down aggressive attacks. We listened to their needs before digging into our bag of engineering tricks to elevate the Teammachine SLR01’s performance to a new level. With our ACE technology, we accelerated the normal design and engineering process and ran an unprecedented 34,000 computer-generated prototypes to find the frame our riders wanted with the perfect balance of stiffness and lightness. The end result is the Teammachine SLR01 – offering what we call, “acceleration redefined.”

Technology Focus – teammachine SLR01 Dura Ace

Asymmetrical chainstays are one result of the ACE Technology iteration process. Dramatic core stiffness is achieved through a BB86 bottom bracket with an extra-wide union at the intersection of the downtube, seat tube, and chainstays.

The wide top tube to head tube union is the result of the ACE Technology process. Clean and protected internal routing of the Di2 wire along the rear brake cable.

Our DTI (dual transmission integration) concept allows for component versatility and clean, internal cable routing inside the downtube and under the bottom bracket.

Lightweight

The Teammachine SLR01 is the lightest bike in the BMC lineup. The frame weighs a feathery 790 grams, and only 1380 grams as a frameset (see details), putting it amongst the lightest framesets commercially available. The Teammachine SLR01’s high-level stiffness enables stunning acceleration, even while climbing the steepest grades. The Grand Tour-winning Teammachine SLR01 geometry provides excellent agility, maximum control, and sure-footed confidence on the fastest descents and tightest switchbacks.

ACE technology

BMC replaced traditional prototyping processes with superpowerful Accelerated Composites Evolution (ACE) technology. With this unique iterative computer-modeling program, over 34,000 possible frame configurations were analyzed to optimize the bike’s geometrical structure, tube cross-sections, and carbon layup. The final result is the Teammachine SLR01: a bike that embodies the perfect combination of weight, stiffness and vertical compliance to deliver the ultimate pro tour-worthy ride.

Comfort

We solved the rider’s need for all-day comfort with our Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC). The TCC combines stiffness in laterally flexing directions and compliance in vertical directions. Carbon fiber layups and tube shapes are optimized so the frame can resist rider-actuated forces, while at the same time offer compliance to road feedback.

Race-ready

This bike is fully UCI compliant.

Reviews

It accelerates snappily; it’s fast on the flats; climbing is downright easy; handling is responsive and precise; and, surprisingly, it’s as comfortable as any bike I’ve ever ridden, soft over bumps and cracks in the road.
Jeremy Berger, June 2015
We’ve continued to come back to the BMC, finding any excuse to take it out for a spin. BMC has created the perfect blend of light weight, comfort, handling and a phenomenal turn of speed.
Warren Rossiter, July 2014
Extraordinary frameset hits the sweetspot of comfort and agility.
