The fastest bike on Earth with a new Focus: Form, Function, Fit

The all-new Timemachine, tailor-made for triathletes.

The culmination of four years of studying the needs of multi-sport athletes, a three-year aerodynamics partnership with Sauber Engineering and two years of final product development: the Timemachine is the new benchmark for triathlon-specific equipment. With continued legendary SubA aerodynamics performance, the Timemachine’s recipe for success is clear – superior tube shaping, maximum component integration, and an extensive rider positioning system. For middle and long-distance triathlons or time trials, the new Timemachine is the must-have bike for races against the clock.

Because free-speed is the name of the game, the new Timemachine’s frontal profile is a narrow and seamless engineering marvel.

P2P V-Cockpit – the world’s first truly triathlon-specific cockpit

Rider-focused

A slippery-fast frame is a good start – but adding a versatile, aerodynamic positioning system for the rider breaks records.  The refined Position-to-Perform (P2P) system lets triathletes find their ideal contact points without sacrificing aerodynamics, no matter how aggressive or conservative their front-end position.

Triathlon focused, discipline-specific

There’s no secret that the needs of triathletes and time-trialists are not the same, especially when it comes to rider positioning.

The technical capabilities of Sauber Engineering’s super-computers enabled triathlon and time-trial positions to be analyzed for the most comprehensive understanding of modern aerodynamics.

The new Timemachine is the new standard for cockpit versatility and uncompromised aerodynamic performance – straightline-fast, crosswind stable – confidence, in the shape of a bicycle.

V-Cockpit vs Flat-Cockpit

V-Cockpit

WHY: The V-Cockpit (spec on all complete bikes – frameset optional) offers optimal aerodynamic performance for taller pad stack dimensions, while the forward-offset promotes vertical compliance – a state-of-the-art blend of high-performance and comfort.

Note: For Time Trial athletes subject to UCI rules and regulations, the V-Cockpit may exceed standard cockpit measurement guidelines

Flat-Cockpit*

WHY: The Flat-Cockpit offers the maximum aerodynamic advantage, letting riders the lowest possible pad stack configurations.

*(not included with complete bike)

V-Cockpit

The patented V-Cockpit minimizes  aerodynamic losses resulting from taller pad stack configurations. The system is capable of optimizing pad stack in the range of 590mm – 705mm

Flat-Cockpit

The Flat-Cockpit ensures aerodynamic superiority for the lowest pad stack configurations. The system is capable of optimizing pad stack in the range of 530mm – 670mm

Flat-Cockpit Configuration

The Flat-Cockpit base bar can be mounted in 2 positions, pointing downward or upward. The driving parameter to choose your position is the base bar altitude – depending on the combination of your discipline, riding style and pad height.

The difference on base bar altitude is 80mm between the 2 positions.

Dual-mount Seatpost

The seatpost has 2 mounting positions (patent pending), with multiple hardware mounts – totaling 124mm of possible fore-aft adjustment.

The forward mounting option enables the use of a storage box

71.5° – 80.8° Effective Seattube (M-S @ 770mm)

4 mounting holes
62mm adjustment per post
120mm of range with overlap

SubA Aero Hinge-fork - The 3rd generation hinge-fork takes integration and aerodynamic performance to a new level

Aerodynamic Form

Following a three-year partnership with Sauber Engineering, a newly revised SubA concept summarizes our aerodynamic advantages: tubes with truncated profiles, crosswind-stable tube shapes, hinge-fork design, a super-lean frontal area and maximum integration overall.

Combined with our Position-to-Perform (P2P) rider-position system, this machine is all about free speed - for long course triathlon, time trials or solo efforts in wind-swept terrain.

The new Timemachine is the culmination of more than a decade of BMC engineers’ pursuit of the ultimate challenge – the interaction of bike and rider vs mother nature. We believe maximum free speed for athletes is not just a wind tunnel drag value. Maximum free speed comes from the ability to stay in an aero position. The new Timemachine is triathlon’s most technically advanced aerodynamic accomplishment – a new benchmark.

Model-build Up

The model build-up of the Timemachine is a complex and highly engineered process, consisting of fourteen steps. Those steps range from computational fluid dynamics evaluation, to tube shape analysis, the design of the V- and Flat-Cockpits, to the use of the unique Medusa arm at the Sauber Engineering windtunnel – just to make sure the numbers add up.

Function - Brake technology

Brake Booster Technology

Brake Booster Technology increases the brake-lever-pull to caliper-free-stroke ratio ensuring the brake pads provide sufficient clearance at times of wheel flex.

The system allows for the complete disconnection of the cockpit (when paired with electronic shifting options) for travel purposes.

Quick-Pad Technology

Quick-Pad Technology gives riders the ability to have two (or more) pre-assembled brake cartridge hardware sets. This creates an easy transition from race-day wheels to training wheels. Swap the cartridge and go for a ride.
