BMC Racing Team's Alessandro de Marchi was part of a breakaway of nearly two dozen riders Friday at the Vuelta a España.

De Marchi finished 14th as Nelson Oliveira (Lampre-Merida) soloed out of the escape group to win the 178-kilometer race, one minute ahead of his pursuers.

Fabio Aru (Astana Pro Team) kept the overall lead. Three major mountain stages lie ahead before the three-week race enjoys its second rest day Tuesday.
