Volta a Catalunya, Stage 1: Breakaway Survives

23. March 2015 — Road Team

A three-man breakaway that enjoyed a more than 13-minute advantage Monday at the Volta a Catalunya stayed away to the finish as the peloton – with BMC Racing Team's Tejay van Garderen (pictured) – arrived nearly three minutes later. (©Tim De Waele/TDWsport)

Maciej Paterski (CCC Sprandi-Polkowice) won the 185.2-kilometer race ahead of Pierre Rolland (Team Europcar) and Bart De Clercq (Lotto Soudal). The peloton – which contained seven of eight BMC Racing Team riders – arrived 2:40 after the trio.
