Tough start to the season for Absalon and Forster

13. March 2017, Milano, Italy — Melanie Leveau — MTB Team

Julien Absalon and Lars Forster kicked off their 2017 season yesterday in Spain and Italy, but unfortunately didn’t perform as they expected. Such is the nature of sport!

Despite knowing that their bodies and legs would be suffering after a 10-day team training camp that finished last Thursday, Julien Absalon and Lars Forster decided nonetheless, to take on the first races of their seasons in Banyoles, Spain and Milano, Italy respectively.

Absalon, who often suffers from allergies in Springtime, untypically finished in 11th place, 2’46’’ down from fellow countryman Victor Koretzky.

Lars Forster entered the pain cave quite a few times on the short and steep climbs of the challenging Internazionale d’Italia MTB Series race in Milan. After a strong start where he formed part of the lead group, he was forced to let them go and settle for 7th place, 1’14’’ behind his Swiss neighbor and training partner, Florian Vogel.

What’s next?

Titouan Carod will make his race debuts with the BMC MTB Racing Team in a couple of weeks at the opening round of the French Cup in Marseille, France, alongside Julien Absalon. A week later, the entire team will meet in Montichiari, Italy for the third round of the Internazionale d’Italia MTB Series.
