World hour record holder Rohan Dennis and past Olympic road race champion Samuel Sánchez were the BMC Racing Team's best finishers in Saturday's individual time trial at Vuelta al Pais Vasco that culminated with a tortuous climb featuring stretches steeper than 25 percent.

Dennis (18th) and Sánchez (19th) both finished 59 seconds behind stage winner Tom Dumoulin (Team Giant-Alpecin). Teammate Tejay van Garderen was a further four seconds back, in 22nd place, to finish the six-day race 11th overall.

The steepness of the finishing climb saw the BMC Racing Team's top riders switch from their BMC timemachine TM01s to their road model – the BMC teammachine SLR01 ≠ at the midpoint of the 18.3-kilometer race against the clock.

Joaquin Rodriguez (Team Katusha) won the race overall by finishing runner-up to Dumoulin and 13 seconds ahead of previous race leader Sergio Henao (Team Sky).
