Lars Forster Podiums in his first Race with BMC

3. January 2016, Meilen — Melanie Leveau — MTB Team

Lars Forster, newcomer to the BMC MTB Racing Team, didn’t wait long to shine in his new team colors to take third place at the EKZ Cross Tour finals.

On Saturday the 2nd of January, Lars Forster raced for the first time in the black and red kit of the BMC MTB Racing Team to compete in the final round of the EKZ Cross Tour, a series of five cyclocross races in Switzerland. “It feels great to be in this jersey, I am already pretty used to it” he said after crossing the line. It doesn’t seem to be the case however for the fans yet he explained with a smile: “I got a lot of “Go Lukas (Flückiger)!” today”.

It didn’t seem to affect him too much though. Starting from the middle of the field, the Swiss rider rode his way up to the front despite a spectacular crash in the first lap. “Because of the crash I was in 15th position at the end of the first lap but I didn’t give up. I slipped and crashed a few more times but stood up every time and fought to get the last spot on the podium.”

The young Swiss rider is very familiar to Cyclo-cross racing having won five National Championships already and a round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in the Junior category. Next weekend, Lars will take part in the the Cyclo-cross National Championships in Dagmersellen. The rider might be young, but he’s full of ambition: “It will be hard but I’ll do everything to win!”
