Japan Cup Criterium: Gerts Sixth17. October 2015, Utsunomiya (JPN) — Road Team
Floris Gerts finished sixth for the BMC Racing Team in Saturday's Japan Cup criterium in front of a massive crowd lining the streets of Utsunomiya.
Fumiyuki Beppu (Trek Factory Racing) took the win in the 23-lap race of a 1.55-kilometer hotdog-shaped course. Ben Swift (Team Sky) was runner-up, ahead of Steele Von Hoff, who was guest riding for Kurite Helium Special Teams.
The BMC Racing Team contributed to a chase of a breakaway that was brought back in the final laps. Past Swiss national road champion Michael Schär helped Gerts with the lead-out for the field sprint.
Along with racing Saturday and Sunday, the BMC Racing Team has been active at several fan events, including a fun ride earlier Saturday and autograph signings at BMC Switzerland's promotional booth at the race.
