Philippe Gilbert finished ninth for the BMC Racing Team in a rain-soaked edition of Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal Sunday.

The BMC Racing Team put riders in virtually every significant breakaway of the 205.7-kilometer race. First, Silvan Dillier and Brent Bookwalter were in escape moves, followed by Manuel Quinziato, who was part of a four-man breakaway that enjoyed as much as a two-minute lead. But Quinziato's group was brought back as the last lap of the 12.1-km circuit began.

Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) out-sprinted Adam Yates (ORICA-GreenEDGE) for the win. Gilbert's top 10 finish added to his seventh-place result Friday at Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec.
