Our riders have clocked thousands of hours this season, whether on-race or training, so we thought it was time to put the spotlight on them to find out a little bit more about their lives both on and off their BMC Teammachine SLR01s.

Rider profile

Name: Bram Welten

Age: 19

Nickname: Brambo

Where do you call home: I still live and train in the Netherlands in a village close to Tilburg.

How long have you been riding with BMC Development Team: This was my first year riding U23 with the team.

On the bike

Proudest achievement so far: Winning Paris - Roubaix Juniors and the first stage of Tryptique des Monts et Chateaux this year, I didn’t expect a win like that in my first year riding U23.

Favourite thing about riding in the peloton: The speed! Plus riding as a team really motivates me to get a good result.

Favourite race: I don't have a specific favourite race but I like to race in France because it’s a nice country and I like the roads.

Favourite place to train: Spain (Calpe) because I know the roads really well and the weather is always nice.

Ultimate goal: Finishing a Grand Tour at least once in my life.

Off the bike

Favourite film or TV show: Transformers, Fast and Furious, Avatar, Jurassic Park.

Favourite musician or band: Eminem, Nickelback, Hardstyle, Dance, Hip Hop. A lot of styles as you can see!

Favourite food: Spinach with meatballs wrap.

Best way to recover after a race: Laying on the couch, playing my video games, watching films, or having fun with my friends.

If you didn’t cycle what sport would you do? I’m not sure what kind of sport I would do but I'm sure it wouldn't be soccer, I’m really bad at it.

I bet you didn't know that? I can cook really well... at least that’s what I like to think.
