Diverse BMC Development Team Heads to Belgian One Day Race23. September 2016, Santa Rosa, California (USA) — Development Team
After a series of National Championships and the European Championships, BMC Development Team will return to racing this weekend at the Belgian one-day race Gooikse Pijl.
Sports Director Klaas Lodewyck said that the seven-rider squad is heading to the race highly motivated and ready to challenge for results.
“We have a strong group of guys heading to this race so we are not going in with a specific leader but instead we will see how the race develops. I think that Fabian Lienhard will be in top shape from his time so far with BMC Racing Team plus it will be a good chance for riders like Kilian Frankiny, who is turning pro next season, to give back to team and ride together for a good result. The parcours is not easy though and it is a long race so I think we will really have to race as a team and work together,” Lodewyck commented.
Kilian Frankiny is looking forward to lining up alongside his BMC Development Team on Sunday before steeping up to the BMC Racing Team ranks for 2017.
“I am still feeling very motivated and my legs are still in really good shape after a long season. I had a bit of a break before European Championships and in France I was feeling good. Since then I think my form has continued to improve every day so I am feeling really strong going into this race.”
“This will be one of my last races for BMC Development Team so I am definitely looking forward to racing with the team. This is a fairly flat race and last year the title was taken from a breakaway rider so we will all be riding for the team and will be looking our for all the opportunities that present themselves to us,” Frankiny added.
