The 2016 season couldn’t have started better for BMC Racing Team.

Rohan Dennis kicked things off in a winning way with his victory in the Australian National Individual Time Trial Championships in Ballarat, Victoria. The former holder of the hour record set a blistering pace to beat teammate Richie Porte by 38 seconds and claim the first victory for BMC Racing Team in 2016.

Fast forward one week to the first UCI WorldTour race of the season, the Santos Tour Down Under, where Richie Porte made his debut in the BMC Racing Team kit and did it in style by winning on Willunga Hill for the third consecutive year, before going on to claim second overall, just nine seconds off the victory.

With two wins already recorded for the season it was time for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, a special race for the team and 2011 Tour de France winner, and now ambassador for BMC Switzerland, Cadel Evans. Alessandro De Marchi animated the race by forming part of a four-rider breakaway but it was destined to come down to a sprint finish and the breakaway was caught.

January came to an end with two victories in the bank and the first UCI WorldTour podium result for 2016 thanks to the Aussie duo, Richie Porte and Rohan Dennis.
