BMC Development Team set for Tour de Bretagne

23. April 2016, Quiberon (FRA) — Development Team

The BMC Development Team, including Fabian Lienhart (pictured), will race at the Tour de Bretagne from 25 April - 1 May.

A six-strong team of BMC Development Team riders will line up for the team’s first seven-day stage race of the season at the Tour de Bretagne from 25 April - 1 May.

Sports Director Klaas Lodewyck said the team is highly motivated and is going in with multiple options.

“With experienced Development Team riders like Fabian Lienhart and TJ [Taylor Jordan] Eisenhart we are going to Brittany with strong GC contenders. The team also includes some of our younger riders like Pavel Sivakov and Bram Welten who not only gain a lot of experience from this race but who are also capable of producing strong results,” Lodewyck said.

Lienhart said he will be going in to the race confident in the abilities of the whole team.

“The Tour de Bretagne is one of the biggest and toughest races in the BMC Development Team program. The course has no high mountains but the stages are long with short but steep uphill climbs that suit me well. It will certainly be a super hard seven days but but we have strong, well-balanced team that is ready to fight,” said Lienhart.

Sivakov, who finished second at the Ardennes Classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège U23, said that although he is in good form, the Tour de Bretagne will be a totally different kind of race.

“Brittany is a hard area to race in. It is never completely flat and the narrow roads are beneficial for a breakaway so it will not be easy to control the race. This will be my first time racing in a long stage race but I feel strong and the team is strong so I'm confident that we can fight for the win everyday,” Sivakov said.
