Rider profile

Tejay van Garderen is one of BMC Racing Team’s leading stage race and Grand Tour riders, with a palmares that includes top ten Grand Tour finishes and stage wins at UCI WorldTour stage races.

The American has competed in nine Grand Tours since turning pro in 2008. Van Garderen notched two fifth place results at the 2012 and 2014 Tour de France and won the white jersey for best young rider in 2012. Of van Garderen’s 13 professional wins, many have been on home soil at the AMGEN Tour of California and the USA Pro Challenge.

In 2016, van Garderen kicked the season off in winning form by clocking the fastest time in the Ruta del Sol time trial and went on to finish second overall. In June, van Garderen put on an impressive display by attacking on the final climb of the Tour de Suisse queen stage and taking the solo win.
