Rider profile

Silvan Dillier demonstrated his potential early when he joined BMC Racing Team as a stagiaire in 2013 and took a stage victory at the Tour of Alberta before turning professional in 2014.

Now in his fourth season with the team, Dillier is enjoying a breakthrough year and has not only shown that he has what it takes to play a support role for the team but that he can also take the opportunity to go for the win himself. This was demonstrated on stage 6 of the centenary edition of the Giro d’Italia when he sprinted from the breakaway to take the first UCI WorldTour and first Grand Tour stage win of his career.

The firsts continued for Dillier at Route du Sud when he proved anything can happen by securing his maiden stage race victory before taking the Swiss National Road Race Championships into his own hand and riding solo over the final 90km to take the win and the jersey.

The Swiss rider’s stage race results also include victory on stage 4 of the Arctic Race of Norway in 2015, and second overall on the General Classification, as well as 3rd on stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse in 2016.

Dillier is also known for his time trial skills and was Swiss National Champion in 2015 and has also played an important part of BMC Racing Team’s winning UCI World Team Time Trial Championships squads in both 2014 and 2015.
