Alessandro De MarchiItaly
Specialties and Strengths: Stage racing, time trials, one-day racing
Alessandro De Marchi will return to BMC Racing Team for his third season in 2017 and will continue to play an important support role on stage race and Grand Tour teams.
Not only is the Italian rider, who has been professional since 2010, a key domestique in the mountains but he is also highly capable of winning stages on his own as was shown with his two Vuelta a Espana stage wins in 2014 and 2015 as well as the many occasions where he has come close.
De Marchi is known for being an aggressive rider with strong climbing skills and in 2014 he was the Most Aggressive Rider at the Tour de France and won the King of the Mountains Jersey at the Criterium du Dauphine.
The Italian rider is often seen jumping in the breakaway and trying his luck when the opportunity arises and 2016 saw him post his best result in a Monument when he took on Il Lombardia and came home in 9th place.
